The Lifetime network has found a way to stay relevant by producing authorized and unauthorized biopics of our favorite artists and former sitcom casts. Well after watching the Save By Bell Unauthorized story I said I was done with Lifetime and their nonsense. However I may need to bite those words and tune in when the Toni Braxton Biopic airs. Why you ask? Well because Toni Braxton will executive produce this project and she will also appear in it. No one can tell your story like you can. So I am pretty excited to see that Toni has grab control of this project. Toni has endured pain and heartache on many levels. From bankruptcy to battling a disease. I am assuming she will not let Lifetime make a spectacle out of her journey. Word of advice Toni, please get the casting right and do not cast any of your sisters ok girl.
Lifetime just will not quit. These folks have not learned their lesson from the Save By The Bell fiasco they produced. Well now Lifetime wants to ruin the images that I have in my head of my favorite sitcom Full House. This production is already starting off on a bad foot. Lifetime doesn’t seem to think that casting is important, take a look at the cast. SMDH!!!!!
In this photo……………………………………………………………
Playing Uncle Joey (Dave Coulier) is Justin Mader.
Playing DJ Tanner (Candace Cameron) is Shelby Armstrong.
Playing Danny Tanner (Bob Saget) is Garret Brawith.
Playing Uncle Jessie (John Stamos) is Justin Gatson.
Playing Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin) is Dakota Guppy.
Playing Michelle Tanner (Olsen Twins) is Blaise and Kinslea Todd.
Now when you compare the original cast to the Lifetime version they look pretty similar but in a caricature kind of way. I surely hope this movie does not ruin these actors careers. Meanwhile back at the ranch Netflix along with John Stamos are producing a spin off version of Full House and almost all of the cast is on board except for the Olsen Twins. I will be watching. The Unauthorized Full House story airs on August 22 @ 8 p.m.
So on the morning of January 17, 2015, I set my DVR to record Lifetime’s Whitney. Ijust had to see it and I planned on watching it, but I wanted to record it just in case my 3 year old son decided to have a temper tantrum during the movie I could watch it later. I took the whole day to get myself together so I could see this Angela Bassett directed movie. I just knew it was going to be good girl. I mean Angela Bassett was running this production. She knows way more about making a movie than Wendy Williams does. So the time came for the movie to come on and I sat with my cup of coffee and I watched and watched and damn it I watched some more. Then the movie ended and I wanted to see more. It was that good that I didn’t want it to end.
A little part of me felt super bad that I thought the movie was great, because this was Whitney Houston’s life. I was sitting their enjoying the re-enactments of Whitney and Bobby‘s life. The Whitney movie was filled with love, betrayal, sex, drugs and rock and roll and I loved it. What the hell is wrong with me? Angela Bassett had lots of pressure on her to deliver a great product for many reasons. Some of them being that Lifetime needed a great biopic since Wendy Williams screwed up the Aaliyah movie, also this is Angela’s directorial debut (the Yale graduate would have not been forgiven if she messed this one up), then their the Houston family who did not approve of this production. Angela called Whitney her friend and I believe all that I saw in this movie, because these are things that happened that only a friend would tell another friend.
I enjoyed this movie. The only changes that I would have made would be the title of the movie. I would have called it Whitney and Bobby: A Love Story.
Did you like the movie?
Directed by Angela Bassett Whitney is set to air on January 17, 2014 on the Lifetime Network. After the horrible backlash from the Aaliyah movie, many are wondering if Mrs. Bassett will be able to deliver. Folks no need to question Angela’s delivery on this movie, from the looks of the trailer Angela has crossed all of her t’s and dotted all of her i’s. This movie looks like it is too good to be on Lifetime actually. Whitney is definitely giving a theater worthy performance. America‘s Next Top Model alum Yaya DaCosta is playing the hell out of Whitney. Make sure you see this flick. I think we can forgive Lifetime for that treacherous Aaliyah movie now.
AALIYAH FANS ARE NOT HAVING IT. THE AALIYAH MOVIE HAS BEEN ON FOR 36 MINUTES AND THE RANTS HAVE STARTED.
Despite Aaliyah‘s families approval the show must go on says the Lifetime Network. With the help of Wendy Williams and her production company. Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B movie will air on November 15th. The network released a teaser promo for the movie this week. The teaser features the rookie actress Alexandra Shipp, who will play the beloved Aaliyah. Take a look at the teaser………………………………….
