ODD COUPLE: NORMAN LEAR AND STEVE STOUTE LOVE HIP HOP

Hip Hop music brings all sorts of people together. This time it has brought the legend of TV Norman Lear and record executive Steve Stoute together. The two men were promoting the Vh1 documentary The Tanning of America: One Nation Under Hip Hop . This is huge, let me tell you why. Norman Lear is a TV God he created shows like All in the Family, The Jefferson’s, Good Times and Maude. All of Lear’s shows dealt with real issues and broke barriers. Thanks to Norman Lear we got to see a black family with a deluxe apartment in the sky. For a man of his caliber to be on board any project is freaking amazing. Steve reference’s some of Norman’s work as being a major influence in the hip hop community.

The Tanning of America: One Nation Under Hip Hop documentary  is based on Steve Stoute’s book The Tanning of America: How Hip Hop Created the Rules of a New Economy.
