The fall lineup for ABC looks pretty impressive. Remember when TGIF Fridays would come on and it would be loaded with funny family sitcoms with diversity. There were black and white families on the same channel making us laugh. Well folks let me introduce to the new comedy series Black-ish.
Written by Kenya Barris and produced by Laurence Fishburne‘s company Cinema Gypsy Productions. Starring Tracee Ellis Ross, Anthony Anderson and Laurence Fishbune. This show follows an African American upper middle class family. The father (Anthony Anderson) does not want his kids growing up adopting everyone else’s culture. He want to enrich his children with their black culture. You know he wants them to know their history. Kenya Barris has said this show is loosely based on his life.
I grew up in the hood this show is a breath of fresh air. Sadly the reality shows today have made the Black culture look ratchet. It’s bad enough we face daily stereotypes everyday. I am so happy to see a successful black family on TV, and there are no baby mamas or ex-cons.(Don’t worry I’m black. I can say these things.)
This show is genius.
